Daniel asks…
How can i appear to be self-confident when I lack self confidence?
I have low self esteem and low self confidence. How do I fake it until I make it. I would like any tips, techniques, and pointers.
Ummm, I already have a CAREER and a master’s degree so check.
J. Lynn answers:
Have great posture, look people in the eye, speak loudly enough for people to hear you, smile, take care of yourself and make yourself available for friendships with others.
Remind yourself of your good qualities EVERYDAY. Are you kind? Smart? Interesting? Inquisitive? Musical? Funny? Creative? What are you good at? What is your best feature??
You just need to keep in mind what makes you special and unique and decide what great thing you bring to your world…
Chin up!!
Paul asks…

I have low self confidence like i worry too much about the simplest things.
i was told that this can help you get the ladies but i still need help in that area too :/ any ideas?
J. Lynn answers:
Yeah I get like that sometimes but I tell myself “get the hell over yourself, quit wasting everyones time and do something, who cares if shit happens, you can always bury it”.
Thomas asks…
How to build up self confidence? I really need help because I have very low self confident.?
Ok, I’m about 100kg and my height is 160cm. I don’t like my looks and I don’t have a true friend. Non of my colleague want to listen to my opinion. What can I do to improve my self confident so that people can try to accept my opinion?
J. Lynn answers:
The easiest way I can tell you is, look for something about yourself that you like, there has got to be a least one thing about your self that you like. Anyway, focus on that attribute.
Donna asks…
For very self confident people – What factors in your upbringing influenced your self confidence the most?
I am trying to raise a kid who is very shy naturally and not self confident. How can I make this kid (6 yr old girl) confident about herself and not shy? I love the kid and she knows it.
J. Lynn answers:
Are you socializing her with other children her age or are you overprotective of her? Are you criticizing her and questioning her about everything or are you letting her mess up once in a while and living her anyway?
It is a fact that making accomplishments builds our self esteem, but for a child who lacks this understanding, an overly critical parent can destroy one’s motivation to even try and risk failure.
Kids want to please their parents, and they are not immediate experts with anything. It would be wise to allow a child to mess something up, and instead of telling them they did it wrong, show them how to do it right. Encourage them to get back on the horse and have patience while they struggle. When they make progress or even succeed, lay the praise on them heavily. Just don’t forget to praise the effort along the way.
Arranging “play dates” with other parents is a way to get kids to socialize without pressure. Since the adults ‘want to hang out’, then the kids have to turn to each other for amusement and entertainment. Model socialization with your peers, for her. Group engagement helps, too, like playing a game where everyone’s effort is required, and no one wins or loses. Something like “parachute ball” (everyone holds the fabric and bounces a ball) or “hot potato”. She might be too young for any “team” stuff just yet.
If your child sees you socializing, you are modeling a behavior for her. If she never sees you socialize, then she might not want to, either. And if you are always holding her hand and walking her through life, then you can expect her to grow up helplessly needing you for everything.
Maria asks…
is it possible for someone timid with very low self confidence to become confident and secure?
and how exactly would they go about doing this?
J. Lynn answers:
Yes you can develop confidence I’ve seen people do it too
from sitting terrified in a corner and in time
to singing in a hall
in tune too!
Firstly you could write down exactly what your afraid of
exactly, then what you would do if it were to happen.
Then the likely hood of it actually happening.
Speak with your doctor about this.
Good Luck.
Best Wishes.
