Read About Carpal Tunnel Exercises Before Resorting to Surgery

By Tom Nicholson

Let's say you are awake 15 hours a day. Do you think you could spare 3 minutes out of every hour to use carpal tunnel exercises? Well, that's all it takes to prevent it from happening to you and although 45 minutes is a long time, when it's split up it's not. This is the type of dedication you need to keep from incurring carpal tunnel.

What you need to do is to be smart about your carpal tunnel exercises. Don't say, "I don't have time," because three minutes is all you need at any one time, and you certainly have that. You have the time to do it, as long as you're smart about it. Think about how much time you spend on your cell phone or checking e-mails. If you can do that, you can do carpal tunnel exercises.

The 3 Minute Rule

Do least one exercise every hour. You can do them for up to five minutes, depending on what your occupation is, but you can start off small if you don't think you have five minutes or if you can't do the exercise for five minutes straight. For example, let's say that you're getting those familiar overuse feelings in your arms because you've been typing. So stop, do an exercise for three minutes, and then keep typing. If you're having no problems, that's great. Do the carpal total exercises every hour and keep symptoms away altogether.

Wrist Circles

The reason we like this exercise is simply because it's easy. Just as you see an umpire signal a homerun, you will use this as the beginning stage to the carpal tunnel exercises. Except you will extend your index and middle finger and do this exercise in a clockwise motion. It doesn't matter what hand you start out with, but be sure to alternate between both of them.

You can alternate the fingers for a really good workout. Use the middle and index fingers for the first set, and then the middle and ring fingers for the second set. Do this exercise until you've gone to reach of the fingers, but make sure the fingers are always adjacent to each other. Your wrists should feel much better when you're done.

If you forget

There are going to be times where you forget to remember to do your carpal tunnel exercises. However, if you start off with something like the Wrist Circles, it won't feel like you're exercising at all. The good news is you will still get the benefits of combating carpal tunnel and be able to continue your normal workday without hesitation.

We also recommend that you do a couple carpal tunnel exercises in the morning when you get up and before you go to bed. It's just a good way to start and end your day. If we can teach you to think smart about your exercises, then the routines will come natural. The end result is you will prevent yourself from having to deal with carpal tunnel syndrome all together.
