The majority do not think much about breathing generally, not to mention it's relationship to the movement of the body and your body's reaction to how you experience life. It has been know for thousands of years, how the way you breath and your wellbeing go together. Recently scientists of this age have proven how vital this is for optimal health including, of-course, your "peace of mind."
From the day you are born to the day you die your breath and your experience of living, in the whole thing aspects, are entwined. A simple example of this would be how we use the expression "it took my breath away." This should be used when we see great beauty or when we see a bad vehicle accident, whether in reality or on the T. V.. Actually, you don't have to see it with your eyes at all. You can just think it (the inside eye) and the breath-body will have a particular cellular reaction that it'll remember for the remainder of your life.
Maybe you're the type of person who takes a long inhale through he nose and exhales through the mouth as an indication of relief or deep emotion when you "see" something that moves you. Reflect for an instant on an emotional experience you have had, whether from just a few moments gone or something from a long while back. Can you remember how you were breathing or "not breathing" at that time?
Whenever you take a gulp, every part of your body moves in some shape; some parts of your body more than some others. Take the hips, for example. They have to be able move posteriorly and anteriorly when you breathe. Otherwise it would be extraordinarily difficult to take a full breath. If you spend a little time every week opening your hips, you not only will be well placed to move with more fluidity, but will be well placed to breathe with larger depth, bringing more oxygen to the brain and body.
One of the most straightforward techniques of opening your hips is to sit or lie down on the ground or carpet and move yourself around in any way that's comfy. Inhale thru the nose and breathe out thru the mouth as slowly and deeply as you can. Find your own positions. Explore your body and breath in a freshly discovered way. You'll soon find that the hips and the body generally will begin to open up. You'll find that if you do this on a consistent basis, you will be able to move through life smoother.
