By Paul Celliereliey

Yoga is a type of exercise that's gaining popularity these days. But did you know that there is actually no single type of yoga in the world? So if you are considering to try out yoga, then you better pick hatha yoga. Hatha Yoga is defined as the physical part of yoga that brings a person to the results of the exercise.

Hatha comes from 'ha' which is synonymous to sun or masculine energy and 'that' which is synonymous to moon or feminine principal, all of which live in a person's body. This type of yoga has a system that encourages people to know the guidelines of movement which are marmasthana, vayus and nadi. The guidelines are put into action just before anyone makes theactual yoga poses. This is because just like any other discipline, hatha yoga cannot and should not be rushed. If a person hurries, he or she may get hurt.

After performing this system, one is then gradually taught one of three preludes. The first prelude is the balakrama or stepping to strength that is directed towards reviving the stamina, calming the joints and tightening the bones. What follows is the chaya yoddha sancalanam or otherwise known as the shadow warrior.

Performed in this prelude are forward bending actions and the transfer of focus towards the self. Last but not the least important is kartikkeya mandalam or the circling the shadow, which is the most advanced of the three since it utilizes spiralling, twisting movements so that stresses can be released. The breath is made much longer and finer, the coordinated arm and leg work becomes more elaborate. After the preludes, the surya namaskara is performed.

A typical hatha class will likely be a gradual stretching class accompanied with some simple breathing exercises and perhaps seated meditation. People who try the hatha class either enjoy it because of the serenity it gives or don't like it because it's too quiet and slow. If you are part of the group that adores the hatha, then why not try getting yoga classes in London? There is a yoga centre in London that specializes on this kind of yoga and it is also in here that you find a hatha yoga teacher.
