Yagma And How It Influences Life And The Universe

By Mary Graham

The Hindu religion and its attendant systems rely on a ritual to balance the universe and do service to the divinities. Sacrifice does not mean have a negative meaning here, because it is more about worship, nature and the gift of transcendence. These are all connected to a religious practice that has been in existence for many centuries and generations.

The Vedas form the relevant scriptural basis for all that is standard in religions that sprung from the Indus, Brahmaputra and Ganges River basins. A Yagna is an exterior or physical manifestation of a rite that is prescribed by Vedic philosophy. It is systematic, and there are prescribed forms that answer all the ritual needs of followers.

Priests for this are called Brahmanas, and they perform the sacrifice for supplicants. These schedules the worship according to personal signs in tandem with signs found in the universe. Yagam, another name for it, is a centering ritual that ideally achieves Yogam, which is the state of positive harmony with the universe. Brahma here is the prime and perfect worshipper.

In the ideal sense, the whole ritual must find a way into what Brahma creates for the final worship, the main connection to universal influence. All the things done in Yagam should perform on the universal level, with men and the gods working in harmony to perform the needed tasks that raise up the main universal goals. This is how the cosmos in the ideal and worldly state is sustained.

Yagam and its cosmic purposes is very important, but also important are the ritual sacrifices for addressing supplicant needs. This involves the individual need to have karmic balance, purification, restoration and forgiveness in life, because it also works in the universal level. Lives, when made positive through sacrifice, become that much more valuable in creating universal order.

The visible part of the Yagam is contained in a wheel, which conforms to the Vedic laws which themselves have visible and spiritual representatives in the world. Mastery of this wheel is reserved for priests, because it is as complex as the universe it symbolizes. It can also predict the future of a supplicant, and can help cast a positive tone on human events like marriages, births and buying property.

Offerings to dieties can be classed as physical and spiritual. The physical offerings can be things like fruits from a harvest, musical implements and such. The second sacrificial order is something derived from a supplicant, contained in his hopes and dreams, supported by the life giving sacrifice of things like breathe and sensation to their proper dieties.

The Yagam is a powerful instrument that is divine in its manifestations and purposes, and thus needs to have a place perfectly prepared for it. The preparations for it include cleaning, votive offerings and lustrations to rid a place of evil influence. The participants all prepare beforehand by undergoing ritual baths and other such things.

Space and time are telescoped into this sacrifice, becoming a universal locus during the time the ritual is performed and connect to the divinities and universal order. Doing research about this through the internet will be an excellent way to go. The gods and the universe wait for the sacrifice of those who are pious and devout.
